Hazed and Confused Part Two.. Interview With Indy Legend Miss Chiff

Good Morning, Afternoon and Evening and welcome yet again to another fun packed edition of Hazed & Confused. Since the last article the Indy scene seems to be in full swing, with quite a few events held over the past few weeks and future events being booked. CZW recently held their tenth anniversary show in The Arena, Philadelphia. Quick results from the event are as follows: 1. Drew Gulak defeated Little Mondo 2. Sami Callihan defeated Jon Dahmer 3. Adam Cole and Tyler Veritas won the “Old vs. New” Tag Team Gauntlet - The order of entrants, and order of elimination is as follows: - The S. A. T. defeated L. J. Cruz and Izzy Kensington - 2. 0 defeated the S. A. T. - Cole and Veritas defeated 2. 0 - Cole and Veritas defeated A. M. I. L. - Cole and Veritas defeated GNC (Gacy and Colon) 4. Sabian defeated Ego Fantastico 5. Drew Blood defeated Pinkie Sanchez 6. The Best Around and El Sexisto defeated 2 Girls 1 Cup and Lord Everett Devore 7. Devon Moore defeated Ruckus 8. Ryan McBride defeated Carter Gray to retain the Jr. Heavyweight Title 9. The H8 Club defeated Brain Damage and Deranged in a Fans Bring The Weapons Match After seeing this on DVD, it had to be one of the most brutal matches in CZW’s history. The H8 Club took advantage early, using, believe it or not, a machete to carve and gouge at the eye of Deranged, rendering him useless, and allowing them to gain a virtual 2-on-1 on Brain Damage. The H8 Club finished Brain Damage with a huge Superplex off the top through a barbed wire laden door, propped on chairs. What happened next was to the surprise of everyone in the Arena. . . 10. Sami Callihan defeated Brain Damage to become the NEW CZW Iron Man Champion Callihan stormed the ring with Referee Nick Pappagiorgio wrapped up in a blanket over his shoulder, and shoveled the unwilling official into the ring. With the threat of a chair and further aggression, Pappagiorgio sanctioned an immediate match up, where Callihan picked up the H8 Club’s scraps, added a few more unneeded blows, and pinned an already beaten Brain Damage to win the Iron Man Championship. 11. Drake Younger defeated Eddie Kingston in a No Rope Barbed Wire Match to retain the CZW World Heavyweight Championship Also, for those who have been following my articles, you will know that I keep mentioning the Chikara run tournament, King Of Trio’s coming up at the end of March, well all 16 teams have now been announced and are as follows: 1. The Masters of a Thousand Holds (Mike Quackenbush, Jorge “Skayde” Rivera & Johnny Saint) 2. The Osirian Portal (Ophidian, Amasis & Escorpion Egipcio) 3. Incoherence (Hallowicked, Delirious & Frightmare) 4. Team PWG (El Generico, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) 5. The Future Is Now (Lince Dorado, Helios & Jimmy “Equinox” Olsen) 6. The Death Match Kings (Necro Butcher, Toby Klein & Brain Damage) 7. The F1RST Family (Arik Cannon, Darin Corbin & Ryan Cruz) 8. Da Soul Touchaz (Willie Richardson, Trauma & Marshe Rockett) 9. Team CZW (Beef Wellington, Pinkie Sanchez & Greg Excellent) 10. The Cold Front (Al Snow, Iceberg & Glacier) 11. F. I. S. T. (Gran Akuma, Chuck Taylor & Icarus) 12. The Roughnecks (Brodie Lee, Eddie Kingston & Grizzly Redwood) 13. Team Uppercut (Claudio Castagnoli, Dave Taylor & Bryan Danielson) 14. Team EPIC WAR (Austin Aries, Tony Kozina & Ryan Drago) 15. The UnStable (Vin Gerard, STIGMA & Colin Delaney) 16. Team DDT (Kota Ibushi, KUDO & Michael Nakazawa) Quite an impressive collection of teams there and pretty hard for me to pick a favorite to win the tournament, with most of the teams having a very good chance at doing so. Though I imagine I’m not the only one hoping to see a “HEAD” Shot in the tournament. So anyway, I decided to do something different and special from the other articles here at TWG and after some thinking I decided that it would be great to actually interview an Indy wrestler. So with nothing to lose, I sent an email out to my personal favorite Indy wrestler, Mike Quackenbush, and much to my surprise he agreed to answer a few questions for me and some suggested by other people at TWG. Due to his work and schedule however, the answers are fairly short but I hope you will agree with me that Quackenbush doing this interview for me is nothing short of awesomeness. So without further delay, an interview with Quack. . . Thank you Mike for joining me on Hazed & Confused, hopefully you’re the first of many exclusive interviews. Most of my readers will know you mainly from Chikara and some as the current NWA Junior Champion. I have asked some of the games members to think of questions to ask you, and we have quite a mixed bunch. . We’ll start off with some wrestling based ones and finish off with some random questions. . . So without further delay on with the questions. . . 1) Did you have any major setbacks starting in the business? –The fact that I wasn’t properly trained when I had my earliest matches was a huge setback. I was never going to be taken seriously or get a chance to work in a real company until I got some legitimate training. 2) What has been your personal favorite match so far? —I am very fond of my match with Claudio Castagnoli from the 2006 edition of the Ted Petty Invitational. 3) Who have you had the most fun wrestling against and teaming with? —Claudio brings out the best in me. I enjoy teaming with Jigsaw, or any of my trainees, really. 4) Have you ever been “star-struck” when meeting other wrestlers around the world? —I was a little bit when I wrestled El Hijo del Santo. He has a magical presence about him. 5) How do you feel on the way CHIKARA is going? —I think we are doing a great job of altering the accepted status quo in the wrestling business, and we’re doing it very quietly, but effectively. 6) With the upcoming King Of Trios, which team would you like to compete against more? —I’d very much like to lock horns with the PWG or DDT teams. 7) If WWE offered you a contract, but it meant giving up working at CHIKARA, would you take it? —I wouldn’t accept a WWE contract no matter what it said or stipulated. Even if Vince McMahon came over and agreed to wash my car and gave me the original Max Moon costume, I wouldn’t sign. 8) Who are your main “travel buddies” when going to different shows? —Because most of my non-CHIKARA engagements involve flying rather than driving, I tend to travel by myself. It’s pretty rare that I road trip by car these days. 9) Have you ever gotten “stage fright” before a match, and how did you overcome this? —I used to get that quite a bit. Just butterflies in the stomach, so to speak. But I probably haven’t experienced that in ten years or so. No one makes me more nervous to wrestle than Jorge Rivera, though. The odds of being able to go hold-for-hold with him are just about zero. 10) Do you ever see hardcore fights coming into CHIKARA? —Maybe a satire of the cliches of garbage wrestling, but that’s probably about it. 11) How do you feel on Ring Of Honor and their recent TV deal? —It’s too soon to know how it will affect them. In two or three months, we might better understand what will come of it. 12) Who, out of your current students, could be the next star? —Any and all of them, really. Each has their own unique potential. 13) If you could have one match against any wrestler, dead or alive, that you haven’t fought before, who would it be? —I think I get asked this in every interview I’ve ever done, and I like to change up the answer. So let’s say Owen Hart this week. 14) Finally, what advice would you have for anyone looking to get into wrestling? —Get trained by someone reputable, with good international contacts, unless you want to languish in obscurity for years and years. That’s what happened to me. And now for some less serious questions asked. . . . 15) Do you fear Chuck Norris? —Of course. 16) Burger King or McDonald’s? —McDonald’s. Not even close. BK is for jabrones. 17) Favorite band and/or song? —I’m a big They Might Be Giants fan. Probably have more TMBG Cd’s than any other in my collection. 18) If you were President, how would you deal with the current economy crisis? —I have never felt so ill-equipped to answer a question. Pass? 19) Have you heard about the bird? —I have heard that the bird is the word. 20) Favorite Video Game? —I love playing the Fire Pro series, and on my PC, I used to be addicted to a game called Freedom Force, a few years back. 21) Have you ever worn a Tutu? —I am fairly certain I have not. 22) Favorite all time movie? —That’s tough. I’m a big fan of just about all superhero movies, going back to the 1978 Christopher Reeve Superman film. I’ve probably watched “Glengarry Glen Ross” more times than any other movie. Maybe “UHF. “ 23) Favorite TV show? —I never miss an episode of “Lost. ” I also really enjoy “The X-Files” and “Fawlty Towers. “ Well thank you very much Mike for your time, we here at TWG very much appreciate you doing this interview with us today. All the best to you this coming year with Chikara and with other matches you may have around the world. Now just how great was that? But thats not all my readers, no, Ive been a busy bee and have secured another FOUR Indy Wrestlers for interviews. So in the coming weeks I shall be bringing you interviews with: Shimmer & NWA Womens Champion, Ms Chif CZW wrestler, and part of my last article, SeXXXy Eddy CZW wrestler and BLK Out member, Sabian Chikara wrestler and member of “Super Smash Brothers”, Stupefied / Player Dos Though by the time you read this, the Ms Chif interview should be already done, but if anyone has ANY questions at all for the others, please leave a comment below and I shall do my best to ask them your question when the interview is done. I would like to thank you all for reading this week, my apologies for the delay in articles but I hope that the interviews more than make up for it. Until next time. . . . this has been Hazed & Confused.

The Gimmick Part 2

Last week I spoke about the Mask and the advantages or disadvantages associated with this gimmick. While it would be impossible to list every possible gimmick or detail what does and does not work I think of a few that I feel deserve mention as good and bad gimmicks. First, a very serious topic needs addressing. This topic is the subject of great attention and is very controversial. So serious that the WWE has enacted a zero tolerance policy and has released key superstars. Even the immortal Hulk Hogan was the subject of an investigation regarding this topic. As powerful as he was, not even he could defeat this opponent. I refer to the use of Steroids. These drugs have no place in the business and are NOT necessary or needed for ANY gimmick now or ever. While it is, OK to use supplements or protein products a normal diet will provide what you need and save you money and not risk your career. I think of the movie Rocky IV in the movie Ivan Drago used drugs, trained high tech while Rocky trained old school, and won. We are now learning that bigger is not always better. I never even considered that stuff as I relied on my natural ability. I was satisfied with my performance and to me was a no brainer to avoid that stuff. I know some that Super Star Billy Grahm received three hip replacements because of damage from steroids. Sorry but I felt that topic needed addressing since its tempting for quick growth and strength, so let us get back to gimmicks. I am reminded of the old saying K. I. S. S (Keep it simple Sam) It is possible to keep it simple and still achieve the goal of being larger than Life. I think old school was the easiest gimmick to do, basic trunks or tights, boots, knee pads, and maybe elbow pads and music for your entrance if you wanted it but wasn’t required. It was rare then to use smoke or lights. Robes or Jackets where commonly found and very popular. They even had federette girls who collected the gear and took it back to the dressing room/locker area. In my day, fireworks indoors where not yet allowed and when the fire department changed their rules, it came at a permit of $1,000. Very few if any small promotion could afford it. Recently as you saw with Jeff Hardy, only trained professionals should use them as even then accidents happen. This reminds me of a Gimmick involving “Fire spitting” The bottle of fluid accidentally knocked over and a small fire started. The show immediately stopped and the fire extinguished. As a result, the show had to find a new home as the lease terminated. So as mom and Smokey the Bear say do not play with fire. A gimmick that proved interesting was the “DOG” several used this gimmick, a Chair, Bone and Basic gear or as the MoonDogs did and wore Blue Jean Coveralls. The last dog I can recall was WWF Junkyard Dog. This also shows that some gimmicks are best left in the past. For example the Bruiser Brody an uncontrollable monster who was turned lose and just beat the holy hell out of his opponent and often continued after the bell rang. His character was so popular that it was reported that he received an offer of $14,000 a week to fight in Japan. Yet today his gimmick is never used. The Giant would seem popular but tough gimmick to sell. With 7ft or taller it was send him out and wonder how to knock him off his feet and pin him. Andre the Giant, Giant Gonzales, Eligante, Big Show and Great Khali are memorable Big Men. I also used this Gimmick as I created the “Illinois Trooper” Who was to be a monster-size SWAT team member who had never been knocked off his feet. The gimmick executed simply, figure out how to create the upset and knock him down. During the match it was fun coming up with ways to attempt the impossible. It made for some interesting discussion from fans wondering just how it would happen. We never got to a point of coming up with who or what would finally topple the immovable man. A Russian brawler is a popular gimmick. There was the Koloffs, Nickolia Volkoff, and currently Vladimir Koslov. Something’s have a way of repeating or being brought back. Sometimes just changing from a face to a heel is a gimmick in itself. Hulk Hogan was everybody’s hero. As Jimmy Hart put it the gimmick ran out of demand. So they came up with the idea of him turning heel. He went from being the most loved to being the most hated man in wrestling. He also created or helped create the most popular stable gimmick in sports entertainment known as the New World Order. He joined Kevin Nash and Scott Hall. They went on to create a ratings explosion. It also set the stage for several other modern day uses of this gimmick. It showed up in TNA as the originals vs. the new blood. A good gimmick seems to reinvent itself and continue on. When the bad guy gimmick was running out of pop and hype Hogan realized it was time to give the fans what they wanted. He returned to his red and yellow and became a face again. The Undertaker also used this gimmick change. He for a period gave up the darkness and death for a Harley and a biker image. He referred to himself as “The American Badass”. This also introduced new moves as he came up with the last ride and snake eyes. He also used this until it no longer drew the pop and excitement. He then chose to return to his Undertaker persona. It appears that sometimes the original idea is better than the new one. We tend not to embrace change and often hate it. However reinventing a gimmick is sometimes a wise move. After Hurricane Katrina the wrestler “Hurricane” decided it was in bad taste to continue his gimmick. . . or WWE told him to stop. Either way the hurricane changed his name to Gregory Helms and came up with a badass style gimmick. It was a great show of respect. This reminds me of one other Gimmick gone badly. The WWE had Muhammed Hassan using guys in black with pipes to attack and beat the Undertaker. This came just shortly after a real world terrorist attack. This enraged fans and sponsors. NEVER offend a sponsor unless you want to go out of business. As a result the next day a press release said the storyline was being dropped and Mohammed was being let go. It’s called saving the businesses butt. It worked and taught us a lesson about gimmicks gone badly. Speaking of that. . . I shiver as I think of Mae Young showing her 70+ year old puppies on PPV. Talk about the gimmick gone badly, thank god I missed that or I would need my eyes burned. This then leads nicely into the next gimmick for me to cover. Divas are like a sideshow act. Sometimes used and then there are periods where none are seen or even mentioned. Occasionally they get a division going for a while. So girls reading this consider a career, as there always is a demand for these models As Donald Trump has said, “Sex sells”. There have even been tag team, handy-cap and even mixed gender tag team. A diva was even part of a Royal Rumble. Chyna was the first and thus far only female in the Royal Rumble match. The last gimmick I write of is in honor of a dear friend of mine. I will be doing a separate article on him in the future, but for now, I will address his last gimmick. I say last gimmick because he retired 5 yrs ago and as he said, “Never looks back”. He was the promoter for the All World Wrestling. His gimmick was General Manager. He primarily stayed backstage but would as the story called would accept a challenge and allow the fans to watch the Boss in action. I mean who does not fantasize about beating there boss now and then. He went by the title Mr. Nice Guy. The GM in itself has made an interesting gimmick and still finds use in the modern wrestling world. Finding the right character for the role of General Manager proves to be a challenge and not very easy. You either hate him/her or like them no neutral stance. Next article I will be writing about the man who gave me the chance to live my greatest dream. This also will cover the hardest question we face, when and how do we decide enough is enough and retire. Unbelievably there are some great possibilities to keep informed and not get tore up.

The Gimmick Part 3

There is one last gimmick that should get addressed. I had forgotten about it until I received an email asking for help creating a preacher gimmick. Actually there where two that I remember. Brother Love and Reverend Slick Both used the close to the same gimmick embracing the Lord and used it to create heat. I added a few things to the character. I created the taunt “The power of Christ repels you” and the sign of the cross. For finishing moves I came up with the Amen and Revelation. It combines the old school and new school. I am giving this illustration to show how simple it can be to create a gimmick without just copying what has already been done. Remember I said there already is a Rock, Hulk Hogan or Stone Cold but the world has not met you. You are a unique person and your character should also be unique and personal. The idea is to be fresh and unique. II like to think of my characters as a work in progress as we grow so should our character. By adding a new outfit or a new move or two keeps things fresh and new to keep interest in your character. You want to keep yourself on the crowds mind. Doing things that they will talk about for days and maybe weeks to come also keeps the fans coming back for more. Keeping the paycheck coming in for yourself and the federation is what it is all about. Before I wrap up the series I want to review a few things and cover a couple things that I missed. So far I have covered how to info creating your character. The next step is up to you. Once you get matches under your belt there are a few options. Maybe you see yourself as a jobber and get beat up every week and give the fans a great show. You try your best and even get a few lucky shots in. However in the end you meet with defeat. Hey someone has to lose, but hey you are living your dream and making money. Eventually your hard work and determination you move up the ladder and soon you could headline a main event. At this time you could think of two things, moving on to a bigger group or being champion. Let’s take moving on first, its hard leaving that nest but sometimes you need to spread your wings and fly to grow. It was really tough for me as I had a feeling of loyalty and commitment but saw chances at bigger and supposed better things. Nothing worked out and I nearly burned a bridge along the way. Forget the Cardinal rule “never bite the hand that feeds you”. Your home federation comes first. Always leave on good terms, fulfill your obligations to the best of your abilities. Give 111% but most say 110% but I say 1 more shows greater loyalty. This also shows your future employer what to expect from you. There may also be a time when they ask you to come back for anniversary shows or why not a Hall of Fame. Ok that maybe pushing it because who thinks about their legacy but it helps to keep an open mind. Some independents allow you to work other shows just don’t double book yourself. If you can’t do it respectfully say thank you and regretfully refuse. There always is another show. You like the group that you are in and want to move up. This can happen in a variety of ways. I will address three ways. Number one is self -explanatory. Work your tail off and get noticed. When the promoter is putting together the next card he could offer the opportunity of a lifetime. This gets frustrating as most promotions keep the title in house meaning if you’re not family the odds on the belt are very little. Rocky V did a scene where the promoter spoke about how it’s a complicated business and owing the contracts. While not dirty it’s true that Rank and Ratings can be manipulated. You may get a shot and maybe not. Don’t get discouraged as many superstars have had a great career and a lot of fun and never held a title. A title is like being valedictorian in school it’s a great honor but maybe is not for everyone. Champions have a lot of expectations on them. They are to carry the federation on their shoulders. Often have to do extra travel and promotion thus being away from home more. Like anything it has its good and bad points to consider. Just something to think about that might not be thought of. We only tend to see the good and positive things. Having all the facts helps to make good choices in life. Second your approached by the promoter and told if you pay for the belt you can be the champion by purchasing it and a story is created. I did this once and it was a fun run. It’s hard to make it meaningful. You might actually find that it feels like a paper champion and your title was manufactured. Sound familiar? Now for me the fact that I was champion and proved myself week after week as a champion led to a win-win situation. The third method only works if you have a good relationship with other wrestlers and a champion. Recently when I thought about a comeback I knew a champion. I spoke to him about doing one more match and expressed how it would mean a lot if it could be with him. Ask and you shall receive. So now you have the gimmick, Federation and Championship. You’re on top of the world. Years pass and you even manage to take the time to visit a hospital, charity event or two and just maybe get a project on TV. Not just local cable show but a nationally known show and for me it was Jerry Springer. There will come a time when it is no longer fun when you reach the point that’s it’s a job and not fun or in my case you are in the ring and midway thru a flip lose your balance and fall avoiding injury but receiving the wake up call that your best boys are behind you its your time for your greatest challenge. An undefeated named Retirement. Yes it is a very difficult subject. As everyone wants to live forever and no one wants to quit. However when it stops being fun or a near injury makes the choice necessary do it for yourself. Its okay to be selfish in this case. You only get 1 chance at life. No continue or extra lives. But there is no reason to totally walk away. Like I quoted my friend saying “you need to walk away and don’t look back”. As with most events in our life there is an exception to the rule. I remember what Hulk Hogan said at his hall of fame induction “Never say Never. ” There is always the option of one more match and in his case perhaps several. I originally thought about one last match and ended up coming up with a series of ideas but in the end my body was unable to fulfill what my heart wanted to do. I had to say no more. So is that it then? Do you have to close the door and leave? No you do not I am happy to say there is life beyond physical sports entertainment. There actually are possibilities and hope for us old war horses. Many past super stars have found careers backstage as Bookers or Talent Trainers. Myself I realized that I am a good writer and turned that into a way to continue being involved. This way I only risk a paper cut or a cramp in the hand. Although typing someday may lead to Carpel Tunnel (lol). I got to apply what I have learned and have helped mentor a few people. It is like passing the torch to the next star. In addition to writing this column I also do scripting for a fantasy federation. There are so many things that I could do here that I could never achieve in the real world. Plus I get to live in the cyber world. I hope I have been able to give a road map if you will of how to begin, have a great run and end when its time. I am always willing and happy to answer questions one on one and given a suggestion write a column on a topic when warranted. I had hoped to include a piece on my 1st promoter and had even set up a brief introduction last week but I felt that after reviewing last week if left some unfinished business and I really wanted to tie it up before beginning on a new topic. So next week I will have the story of the man who me my start and his 17 years plus career.

A Car Buying Story, Part Four: the Dealers

Boy, these people are something special!
You know, when the cars, I read a lot to deal with car dealers. People generally have a negative attitude towards them and the experience of buying a whole car, and you can find plenty of information about how to avoid fraud, how to lower the price, how to negotiate with them, whatever is say, etc, etc. An excellent site for information on all aspects of buying a car is the car buying tips: (http://www. carbuyingtips. com /). Now, with complete information and details that I learned a lot from various sources, I still think that in general, no, the prevailing attitude is unrealistic. I mean, almost the feeling that if you pay nothing more than factory prices, which made a bad deal. Of course you can succeed in reducing the prices seem to a large extent, but the fact that dealers are making money. Well, sometimes the simple sale of the car, e. g. to meet their projected figures, it is beneficial for them, and give all their profits even for love. But ultimately, I think the situation as an opportunity not crazy, my goal! Anyway, I think the current fashion for "beat" the price until the soil is so unrealistic and aggressive than the enthusiasm of the banks to take money from you as possible.
However, after buying the experience, I lost almost no respect and sympathy for the dealers. And I always advise people never to become. Of course, some of them were great examples of normal behavior and pleasant, but unfortunately I must say that most of them have taken the business of deception and aggression to the point that for a man of good and feel good about going to a dealer to be repugnant. Soon I felt a sense of insecurity about what I have been informed by them. I think it was all a lie, smaller or larger. Much of what I've heard, do not believe, and nothing that I trust.
Here are some examples, more or less fun, my recent experience: a systematic methodology
I'm going to a dealership with the intention of exploring a car that really caught my attention, simply by providing all the basic functionality I wanted. So I wanted to see, test drive, and ask some questions. So ask the seller: "I read that the results of crash tests for this model are not as good, most are ranked 3, 5. Now I know there are different tests, and not be judged only by his rank. Do you know more about these tests and scores? What exactly is being tested, and how did the score for the cars? "
He replied: "Yes, I know that grades are not the best. I know. But you know - what do they really? (And I think - Yes, that's exactly what I asked) You see, a score of 3 is not really that bad. It's almost like 4. What is the difference? Let me tell you almost nothing. And also, they all mean something more serious accidents! "
Well, no kidding! What a complete explanation. Now, I understand, my worries are gone. And what a relief. So if a car is parked in a lot, they need not fear that suddenly opens the hood and hit me in the face! Bonds
A question occurred to me on a car, and I decided to go through a dealer to ask. My visit was about 10 minutes - of course they exchanged numbers, I received the booklet and the usual things. Tomorrow morning, my phone rings, my answer and I get this:
- "Hello Michael, Jord here at the dealership.
- "Hey Jord, how are you, what happens?" (I thought I would just take some good used car)
- "Nothing, nothing … Just wanted to know how you are. "
Huh. . . If this sounds like the beginning of a beautiful friendship, I do not know what it is!
He continues:
- "Have you decided what car you want?
- "No, not really, not yet. I told you to take some time, and I was not in a hurry. "
- "Well, tell me what block? Can I help? "
The man, of course you can! Go do something else in my place to ask questions. . . Landing on the four, come what may
I was not sure the size of a trunk of a model, so when I visited the concessions made by some clubs and a cart that I use often to see how they fit into the trunk. But it was one of the smaller cars, so I was not sure what size trunk. And I told the dealer what I do and I said no problem. Therefore, I take the orders and laughs:
- "C'mooon, how can you doubt it - that can easily adapt. Do not worry! "
- "Wait, wait, let me try, I know what I mean."
And then try and try, but not so easy - the basket is a little long and the boxes a bit high. Separately, go to any problem, but overall, it's not so easy. Finally, he laughed and comments:
- And you really think that all this fits in the trunk ??!!"
Qu. . . ? Get all the money that can
I have a long interview he describes how I have to buy replacement coverage. And the most expensive ( "better" in the jargon), which covers a longer period and gives the new car's value, not the amount you paid. Ok, this is a beautiful product. Now, I also have a lengthy description of how I absolutely must buy a package of VIN etching in which to record the VIN on all windshield that thieves are less likely to steal (they can not sell the windshield barrier to the parties). That's about $ 300. Well, I gave both of these things a good thought, but tomorrow, I realized something very simple: Why do I need two guards? If I get replacement coverage, and if you give me a new car if mine is stolen, why can protect more? Damn it, you should probably buy two cars in one case has been stolen after all.
And besides, I've found on the Internet that recording kit, very easy to use and apply, you can buy for $ 20. Get all the money that you can - again
It is well known and generally as a scam called "trader", but anyway I decided to post it here as another example.
So I finally decided to buy the car and get to the dealership at 6:00 pm. I think the process takes about an hour. However, little here and there and I'm at the dealership for four hours. I think well, nobody's fault, it's just a lot of things to do and many people involved - the banking, finance Guy, child insurance, then the new type of finance and the director because there was a mistake, etc. So get signed by all the numbers from there and everything seems perfect: All figures correspond almost perfectly with mine that I calculated before. Except one thing - $ 900 life insurance loan. I ask:
- "Why are you here? Is it mandatory? "
- "Well, we made a request to finance the company."
- "Ok, but is it mandatory?
- "We could re-apply and see what happens - if you have life insurance elsewhere."
Now, you see, I am very easy to confuse, but it was late and I will not repeat the whole process again, then I think: "Ok, I'll think about tomorrow." And I'm going through. Now the good that had a contract with me (I had to take home for my wife to sign), so it was not too worried.
Anyway, in the morning I realize that not only is required to have insurance and really do not need life insurance elsewhere, but another application without certainly happen. And right now, frankly I doubt they need to make another application at all. So I am very angry and I'm going and I have the exact same answer again. So I say:
- "We will apply again, I am sure that the application will the channel. I do not think, I never wanted and never asked. And if not then we'll see what we do. "
And he does the paperwork, and I'm angry remarks: "Do not worry, I'm sure he will make a depression."
Of course it will - and what it does. How the client side - even if you overdo
A trader was confirmed every little thing I said. It was a little weird and annoying:
I thought the points that I wanted at all the only important elements in the car.
It was also in the computer equipment are just a few years.
The funniest thing is when we talk about payment options. He said that leasing is a better option if I want to change cars every two years. So I say:
- "You know, I'm the type of buyer, at least so far. I drive a car for years before buying a new one, so you can not go with the lease.
- "I understand, I understand perfectly. You know, the worst part of the automotive business for me is to simply change cars every 1-2 years. I hate it. If you do not sell cars, do what you do.
Well, actually made me feel at home. Come on guys, we just met and probably never see again, do not do these things. Announce what has
It was not really on the negative side, it's just fun. I went to the Subaru dealer and they were not really well. They were very cooperative and without the aggressive edge. And they never called me to press or wondering if I made a decision. They also have a unique program where you can take the car for 24 hours the test unit. I had a very good experience with them.
Anyway, this dealer told me that they know that their cars use proprietary technology in your engine that is different from all other cars, and repairs can be costly. And he said:
- "Yes, this is called Boxer engine in which pistons are horizontally opposed rather than vertically. But we are not the only ones to use … Porsche uses - you know …. Porsche Boxster and some small airplanes. "
Well, for repairs at affordable prices. . .
He added that is an old technology that has developed well so far and really should not worry, it was somewhat reassuring. By shortcomings of the client fish - even in the dark
Honda gave discounts and is also posted on all sides is very important selling point. I now turn to a dealer, and one of the first things the guy told me is:
"You know, I'll tell you one thing: we will give a good discount, rebate and is Honda, but most dealers do not even mention."
He acted as if he let me know a secret, and not only not true but it's the radio, their website anywhere. But I could be misinformed and careless and I think I have a special offer. Lie, as if there was no tomorrow and hopefully not be surprised
I was very close to buying a car so I called some dealers wonder if they have a certain pattern and color on the lot. I told them I did not want the car to come from some other dealers. I see the car and saw. Because I do not want to go into a new set of problems and issues. For example, a dealer told me that additional shipping charge if you bring the car from other dealers, that is ridiculous and that perhaps deserves its own story. It may also happen that the car that arrives is different in some detail what he wants, and has already signed the papers. Etc.
So I made sure I know what I want, but later became a distributor. We chatted a bit and then tell me:
- "Let's see the car.
- "Oh, I fear that you will ask me. I do not know exactly where the car ".
I laughed: "But I said I want to see the car before you buy."
- "Oh, do not worry - it's here somewhere."
- "Ok, I'll go out and do it."
- "But the lots are very large."
- "I do not mind, I have time."
- "But they are not really all here - we have two lots a few blocks away."
I do not like the argument that - in cases like these give me and just walk away. A good guy
The highlight was a young trader's positive that I quickly realized that is not (yet) turned into a routine capacity misleading - it becomes a little confused when I asked a stupid question. To me, this is the normal reaction. And when I asked him what he sought, he said, "in an old Volvo, which we know is a very good car." I'm sorry that sells cars are not suitable for me - I was very happy to buy one of he. And I do not even want to negotiate with him at all.
